Cicci Scholarship

Dear Organizational Member,

UNITY is pleased to announce the 2012 Cicci Sponsored UNITY Scholarship for Studio Owners for Business Development. This scholarship in an amount of $500 will be awarded to raise the level of business expertise of a dance studio owner. The Cicci Scholarship must be used for business related study (example: business course or workshop)

Eligibility requirements:

  • Applicant must be a studio owner with at least three (3) years professional teaching experience and ownership.
  • Applicant must be at least 21 years old at the time of application.
  • Applicant must be a current member in good standing of a UNITY member organization.
  • The successful award recipient must wait 2 years before applying for another scholarship award.
  • Current UNITY representatives and members of the Executive Council are not eligible for this scholarship.

Procedure:

  • Complete the application and send with a photograph of yourself and signed release (on the application)
  • Completed application must be submitted to your UNITY member organization by their deadline. Your UNITY organization will review and select one (1) application to be forwarded to UNITY. The submitted application from each organization will be reviewed by the Scholarship chairperson and the UNITY EC.
  • The recipient of the UNITY Scholarship for Studio Owners will be chosen by lottery from among all submitted applications and announced at the UNITY Annual Meeting in January 2011.
  • The $500 Cicci Scholarship will be available starting February 1, 2012 and must be used by December 31, 2012.
  • The recipient of the award must submit the following to the scholarship chairperson, Shelia Vaught, 5336 North Grandview St., Little Rock, AR 72207-1908 within one month after completion of the business related study:
    • Certificate of Participation, stating the number of hours and nature of the study.
    • A written report, which should include a summary of knowledge gained, how it will be utilized in your business practice, and an itemized list of expenses. Segments of the reports may be used on the website and in UNITY promotional materials.
